Friday was plunking piano keys side-by-side and singing worship music off-key. Creating a blanket fort and reading books together. Eating turkey burgers and super juicy watermelon with my friend Natalie and then reading more books. Dusting the upstairs and polishing the piano (miracles happen a few times a year!). Harvesting more rhubarb after a short nap to freeze for later use, cutting flowers for a dining table bouquet and the neighbor, baked chicken breast with eggplant/swiss cheese/bread crumbs/tomato sauce, and plenty of snuggle time.
Saturday was some major sleeping in time, which is so unusual, but was thanks to a restless night of sleep. Chowing down some pears and cream of wheat, packing up, and then off to the park. Exploring, hiking, nature walking, and kid-watching at St. Edwards Park with a little lunch on the side of the lake and great leg workout on the way back up. Garage organizing, strolling and meeting new neighbors always, and doing happy art projects unhappily. Chugging rhubarb/mango/strawberry/banana smoothies for dinner. Washing up with eggs in the bathtub after a sweaty, sticky, dusty, messy day. Finishing just right with some more snuggle time.
Blissful.
Tomorrow after church we hope to sail the boat together or do something outdoors as we hear it will be nice! Maybe we'll find something else interesting and new to do. Catch the Pirates movie, finish the molding project, explore new bicycling territory, or just be utterly lazy. We so rarely have a weekend with no plans whatsoever and this weekend we were able to design all our own. I am looking forward to the just the two of us time away from all the chaos and busyness of life!
